Moving pallets of rice from Lawton, OK to Junction, TX paid over $8,000 and that was enough to get this newbie driver inside the tractor cab for my third gig. What should have been a straightforward delivery turned into a series of mishaps — day and night delays, detours, and even a tow back from the outskirts of Lawton!

With the route marked and the trailer packed, the delivery clock was already running. The GPS traced a clean line south, but the reality of the haul stretched across four hundred miles and six hours of tough Texas highway. As a hired driver for EQUOS Power Transport, my task was simple on paper — move pallets of rice from Lawton to Junction — yet every mile carried its own rhythm, from the dockside scrape of pallets to the long roll of asphalt ahead.
